Peace and Quiet with an Evo!

We got slammed at the beginning of last week. Not quote 12" total accumulation. They say it's the seventh highest total on record around here, but I'm always skeptical of hype like that.
All I know is I busted my *** shoveling the drive.
Today is a good day. Been shopping for a new truck for quite a while. Finally found one I liked and pulled the trigger. Only sucky part is they are spraying in a bed liner and I have to wait until Saturday to pick it up.

Good looking truck. Those look like street tires. I haven’t drive in snow in about 20 years.
If you are looking for recommendations for tires, my most recent purchase is excellent.
I picked up a set of Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx recently. These are the best tires I have had on any of the Jeep’s I have owned. They look aggressive like a mud tire but are quieter than an all terrain, almost as quiet as a highway tire. They are resistant to hydroplaning. My previous tires were Goodyear Duratracs and were prone to unpredictable dangerous handling with just a small amount of water on the road. They are a bit heavier than most all terrains but feel like they have less rolling resistance. They are studdable.
They are also a very solid American company that has been in business since 1917. They don’t get involved in politics or choose wrong sides. They manufacture Avon tires for motorcycles.
The set I just bought are 315/70-17. They come in many sizes though.

When I got my Silverado it had, like probably 9 out of 10 pickups around here, Goodyear Wranglers on it, used but supposedly low mileage, looked like it and tire dates were just two years old. Traction absolutely sucked, it would spin the wheels on wet roads real easy, and they're noisy tires. Dumped the Wranglers shortly after getting the truck, put Coopers on it, what a difference, way better traction, rode better and are very quiet tires. I've had Coopers before, even have a Cooper car tire on one of my sidecar rigs. I've also pulled Dunlops (those 401/402 series that Harley's used for decades and still does) with less than 500 miles on them and replaced them with Avons. Avons are the best handling tires I've used, and those Dunlops the absolute worst. Not all Dunlops are like that, though, I've ridden on other model Dunlops that handled fine. Cooper is my preferred brand for 4 wheeled vehicles when I can get them in the right size, usually can.

Since I am working so much people are asking me about buying a new Jeep. I just laugh. I am at 88,000 miles and it’s a 2014. I only had one major problem but the dealer took care of it despite it being out of warranty.
What engine do you have in that truck?

i always had coopers on my plow trucks . i never kept track of mileage just as much going backwards as going forward when plowing snow. and my trucks where used for hauling fire wood out of the woods. i usually got two years out of a set of coopers. they still had probably a 1\4 of the tread left just too beat up by the end of two years.

It's got the 5.7 gas V8. 4x4, 3.92 axle ratio.
It was a little hard to find. Back when I bought the '05 Silverado I just traded in, I compromised on the color. Never liked it. Wasn't going to make that mistake again.
At least around here, the inventory is almost all short bed crew cabs. I wanted the longer bed, less back seat version. ("Quad Cab" in Ram lingo)
Those were my big three requirements: V8, "more bed / less back seat", dark red.
Found a Silverado that checked all the boxes, but couldn't make a deal. Couldn't find a Ford at all. Eventually found this Ram.
What I like about it is that it isn't all optioned up. Has all the stuff I want, but not all the luxury stuff I don't. I like that it is the "Classic" body style, which I prefer. And I think I got a smokin' deal on it.
Hopefully it works out. I'm a "keep it forever" guy. We'll see how she holds up after ten+ years.

I’m with you there on keeping a vehicle as long as possible.
Some say drive it until the wheels fall off. Never say that. When I had my 2007, a back wheel actually fell off. I put it back on and drove some more, albeit straight home to change my underwear. I ended up having to get rid of it sooner than expected though because it was plagued with problems and I was able to negotiate a good deal on my 14 with a sympathetic dealer. Still loving the 14.
