I've been working from home the past several months. After an aggravating day, this little peanut can sure brighten things up!

Next year

Brother in law quoted me some costs and I am already shaking my head. In my mind if you are poor people you don’t get an outrageous wedding.

Yes, I’ll be footing a lot of the cost, probably most of it, but when I know what the average cost of a reception hall is and I am being told a number more than twice that, I have to pause. Then I am told the price if the wedding dress and it is what I expected the cost of a hall would be.

I haven’t commented except to say some people go crazy and end up with a wedding that would be a very good down payment on a house.

So I am kind of letting the excitement blow over and when the heads are no longer in the clouds, then we can maybe talk something more down to earth.

Doing my best not to be an *** but there is a reason that I am as well off financially as I am.

Wise words - a little time for reflection is a great idea.

Mrs B and I married relatively late in life and having agreed to do it started to draw up a draft guest list. We gave up as it approached 250 and still counting! We decided against a honeymoon and stripped the list of guests down to 80 - that was quite enough, although tough to achieve! So our major expense was a lovely 'wedding breakfast' at a local restaurant. We lost our wedding certificate on the day, which surfaced in the USA, but that's another story!

When my parents got married, their honeymoon consisted of a trip to Burger King and that was it.

We still laugh about that one.

I think that was around 1968. They are still married.

I didn't know they had Burger King's back then, I know up here in the Northeast it was Carrol's and I believe Carrol Corp is the mother company of Burger King maybe they bought Burger King our or vice versa in late '70s, I don't know..
