Thread's been quiet of late, so here are some Evo ramblings:
Last few days I been riding the bobber back and forth to work. That thing is fun, but no kidding it is a handful! I keep the bagger in the garage behind our shop, so I use it for mid-day errands. I'm frequently going here and there to pick up things from customers, etc. Nice having a trunk. Quite the contrast having an actual suspension and rubber mounting. Doing an A-B comparison between those two is a study in contrasts.
The bobber has been treating me well of late. All week it's started on the first "purposeful" kick. Nice.
Stumbled across this thread on a Hayabusa forum the other day. Short version of the story is
- Guy on a fairly new 'Busa grenades his motor making a high speed run
- Upon inspection, turns out he has the most gloriously blown con rod big end you'll ever see (seriously...pics are in the thread...check them out)
- Decides to put in a new motor
- Decides that just replacing the motor isn't enough, and adds a bunch of go-fast stuff (turbo, etc)
- Throws down 400+ HP on the dyno! (Which strikes me as unbelievable, but he's got pix of the dyno chart for us doubters)
- Can't control him throttle hand, and a few months after all that work, he stuffs it.
Good news is he didn't get hurt in any meaningful way.
I can't decide exactly why, but I just love that story. Mostly, I suppose, it speaks to how motorcyclists are all the same. I mean, the HD world and the Hayabusa works are as different as can be, but the perpetual quest for "more" is always there in both. I love how the guy munched the lower end on his stock motor, and his response was to build up the replacement motor to 2x the HP.
Anyway, I was bored and that's what was on my mind...

Interesting thought there Omaha... There's always going to be the need for speed, however not everyone will do it. Some feel it's necessary and others don't. But for those that do It's very exhilarating for sure... But 400 HP on the street on a street bike? Hmmm, I don't know... Something like that would be a beast at the Salt Flats.... Now that's something I would love to challenge...

This was May 22. I heard heat and humidity kills the Chinese wuhan corona virus. If that is true, the damn thing should be eradicated in my area. As a side note, my beard is the longest it has ever been and I am having trouble remembering when my hair was this long. I have taken to always wearing a hat since my hair is a long mess. Yes, I have all of it, and then some.
Anyway, check out the temperature.
