Thumbs up

Wonderful! One of my nephews, adult now, ate his broth in the high-chair using his hands. He plainly enjoyed his food, but a spoon was not for him. I did suggest my sister fed him in the bath! Tomato soup was especially entertaining - for on-lookers.....

Friends of ours, mother and daughter, were keen jam makers, when the fruits were in season. Being driven home by her husband after a successful session, with a box of warm bottles of jam on her lap, they were involved in a shunt. The Policeman who attended the scene fainted, on looking into their car. She was still sitting there, smothered in red current jam, poor thing, but otherwise unharmed. She didn't want to leave the car for fear of making even more of a mess! She had jam/jelly everywhere, but nowhere.....

Been in the high 80s and low 90s here the past week with drippy humidity. I did ride the 96 Electra Glide/sidecar rig two days ago - from the garage to the backyard for temporary room for some work in the garage. At least it (and the 1200, a Ural, and a Honda) started instantly, been a couple weeks since I fired it up. Been a busy summer, as usual haven't got near as much done on the bikes as I'd like to, and this weather isn't helping.

We've had some recent respite from many weeks of high temps and humidity, which is very welcome. Doesn't seem to make riding the bike much more comfortable though, which doesn't seem to compute!

Cool

Had Buttercup the Buell's suspension tuned recently, which has proved quite a treat and well worthwhile. Several friends have had their sporty bike's suspension tuned, seems to be the in thing over here at present. Then a few weeks ago my brother had his Ducati Monster sorted, which involved new front and rear springs plus some mods to the fork dampers - hey presto the darned thing rides much better. I began to feel left out!

In Buttercup's case the chap I visited, based at our Formula 1 GP race circuit at Silverstone, turns out to prepare and service H-D UK's demo fleet and has been doing so for many years, so is familiar with Buell suspension. He altered front fork sag and tuned front and rear damping, also lowered tyre pressures a little from stock. Didn't take long and he plainly knew what he was dealing with, also didn't cost much.

The ride back home was interesting, for which I took many bumpy and twisty back roads. It goes round corners better! I'm not talking about scraping elbows style of cornering, just swinging and banking as normal. Then I realised that both wheels were responding to the road at the same time, as if they were talking to each other at last! Nothing dramatic, but a noticeable improvement and welcome for that. I'm sure that as the miles roll by I will become even more pleased with the end results.

Cool

Just came across this photo by chance, of a 1976 Glide which shows the inspiration for Hyacinth's colour scheme!

My grandson was determined to get on my bike. He knows not to touch it after I get back from a ride because it's hot.
