The deer ain't so bad right here. Here on the northern edge of the Everglades, it is the bugs, the fungi because of the high humidity, the varmints, and the birds. I have tried to be as organic as possible, but still have to use some chemicals for the bugs and fungi. I use a fence for the varmints and hanging aluminum pie plates that clang and flash to keep the birds away.

We had to do the same thing to drive a family of skunks out of the back yard a few years back. Ex-wife got sprayed one night, and it was not funny.
We had aluminum foil and plates hanging from fishing line all over the place.
Neighbours thought we had joined some kinda UFO space cult.

It worked. And no UFOs came....

To me veggies are better than cake any day.

Peas, lima beans, butter beans, squash, like almost every veggie but cabbage and brussel sprouts.
