I have spent many a winter evening on Youtube just watching "Harley pipes" videos. Big fun, especially with a big piece of CAKE, a sip of something smooth, and the volume cranked.
No, I don't have a spare pair of apes mounted to my desk....

 

Back in the 70s when I 'discovered' them I reckoned ear plugs were the best tuning aid known to man! My FX1200 had cowhorn bars and no windshield and at around 70-75mph I used to get a front-end shake. Using plugs I realised that was because I was 'hanging on', against the noise, which was creating tension. With them in I could easily travel at around 95mph before the same condition set in.

The pseudo-biker that I work with says "if you gotta have a windshield, you may as well drive a car." Worked with him for 17 years and have never seen him anywhere near a bike. Of course I never heard him say that until I rode up on my bike.

 

I like riding without my windshield! Hairy knuckles and hairy chest in the wind!

EVO Dyna riders tend to be the toughest of the lot.
