Peace and Quiet with an Evo!

Almost as good as their southern cousins, who signed off a Metric Conversion Act, but never really took it to their hearts. If you ever wonder why Harley seem to be quietly introducing metric units on their bikes, it is because they are responding to a Government initiative of 1975!
And our Governments wonder why we don't always love'em!

Yes, mid 70's was the change. Or the start of it...
But we have a mixed up system now as there was no 'full commitment'.
Old timers (and I might fit that catagory. Or not!) still think in terms of MPG, inches and feet and 2 X 4s (construction industry especially).
I've got a 318 cu in in my truck, but sometimes it's a 5.2 litre
The temperature seems to be standardized; I translate it for the Southerners that read this stuff.
It's funny to me when I'm talking to a young Canadian and tell them "it's about 5 miles from here" and they look lost!

My uncle was an Austin Healey racing guy in the 60s.
But, ahem, back to Harleys, haha
how's that swingarm project coming together? Did you machine the bushings? Shocks in yet?

This is like being hen-pecked from afar!
Shocks have got as far as UK Customs, yet to find the exit. Bushes are with my brother and I may not see them until after Xmas - he has to earn his keep and meet the inevitable seasonal deadlines. Rear wheel is waiting for its new tyre, which was due in today Tuesday. New rear calliper is waiting for a new brake line which is in the post. I have to turn the centre of my old pulley before it will fit the new wheel, which will also have to wait until the New Year. I am also waiting for some critical fasteners from my local Harley dealer. So it is all no go for the time being!
It is also bl**dy cold out there in the garage at present, so I am thinking things through in the warm! Everything is clean and ready for rebuild. I have new pucks? (brake pads) for the front to go in , which I will tackle as soon as I can survive out there. Each of my Harrison Billet-6 callipers will need some love and attention, as well as fresh DOT5 (in stock!) when I fit them. When I get the new rear calliper on I will have a total of 16 pistons to call on!
With Xmas so close and our weather forecast I don't expect to get much done for a couple of weeks. We will be in Scotland with relatives over the holiday period, so I must hope for a few mild days in the New Year.
