Peace and Quiet with an Evo!

Got a pair of blanking plugs eventually, late this pm, so all set to try and install these things.
I'll add a third thing that does not impress me about these Supertrapps. Where the plug fittings are inserted into the pipes, a short distance down from the inlet end, there are substantial burrs, protruding about 1/8" into where the hot gasses will blast out of the ports. I have had a tentative bash at them with a screw-driver and hammer and not budged them, so will take another look in the cold light of tomorrow. They will get white hot in no time and are a disgrace.

thanks for the update, GR. Disappointing.
Something else disappointing-
It is raining hard here today, and snowing at about 500 m above sea level !
10 cm in the valley. Lots on the ski hill above the city.
Back to XMAS weather. (oh wait, one could ride on Xmas day. I have the video!)
Not nice at all.

Commiserations Dale, and fingers crossed the weather stays fine here, as I press on with my rebuild. I think I will write to Supertrapp about these pipes, as they really need to get their act together. Meanwhile I have my back against the wall trying to get my bike roadworthy for our Slovenia trip, so can't afford any delays. I just have to get on with it.
Good luck on getting everything together.
(by the way,ya gonna paint that thing?)

Watch out, I just bought me an EVO and I was one of the "Touring" regulars. Still have the Twinkie FLHRC, and it's great machine......But, I'm diggin this FXR and find myself in here more than that "other" place Much tamer, and the owners seem to have more of a passion for the machine. Glad to be here

Welcome aboard Jonny, good people here.
GR, sorry to hear about the Megs, on True duals don't be afraid to check out the new kid on the block Crusher system, Vance and Hines headpipes with a quality muffler fit and finish designed for Kuryakyn. Put the TD system on a new 103" street glide and a tame noise level cruising but boy do they bark when throttled, more of a roar and it's own sound.
I actually did ride the new Streetglide and won't be leaving the Evo section soon, had my voodoo blocker sunglasses on.

I like that.
As much as I liked the 2 TC's I had, and even the Sporty, I wasn't as possessive about them. My 98 is part of the family.

OMG, more places cracking down on exhaust. I went to the auto parts store, bought some pipe that would fit into my pipes. Fabbed up some half moon baffles, 180 degrees apart, WHAT a major difference on torque! And the best part is that the local pinheads baton will not go into my pipes. I'm running hooker pipes. Still sounds great!!
