we have an unseasonal, and near record setting 25 F this morning, which is preventing the little bit of snow from melting. Supposed to be the warmest morning of the next 3! Interesting conditions.... piles of leaves on the road, covered in frozen snow. The Evo is gonna stay in the garage for a while.
And we are saying 'SCREW IT...LET'S FLY' to Baja for a couple weeks manana.
Continuing research into the limits of human capability. the old 'cold-to-hot' test.
Liver, don't fail me now.

And I sincerely wish all my P&Q budddies were gonna be there.

Thanks guys and gal,

Was a good day. I have plenty to do at my new job for sure, but I love a challenge. Better pay makes it better also.

Ok I will hush up about the warm weather and wont say that it got into the 80s today.

Did Graham shut the P&Q Pub down for the holidays??? Not a peep in here of late...

BTW - according to my latest "hands-on" independent research... and DO NOT go well together... trust me on this.

Also, this is my first official comment (NOT "bitch", which can result in expulsion from this wonderful thread) about how frigging it is here in north Georgia tonight... currently 40, and going down to the upper 20s (F) tonight... that's just too damn C-C-COLD fer THIS southern boy!!!

Hope everyone Gobbled til ya Wobbled on Thanksgiving! We had dinner at some friends of ours about an hour north of here, and I got to drive "Bambi", my wife's little 350Z convertible, up there and back... (top UP). Damn, that little car is some serious FUN to drive!

Hopefully it will warm the EFF up soon, so we can get back on two wheels!

I had been wondering if all the bears from this thread went into hibernation for the winter. I did enjoy some good cake and other items yesterday. Even got to eat some swamp cabbage my son had cut.

A few of us are planning a trip to the Smokeys for next May. Hopefully I can come by and get my turn in the red convertible.

Sure! If (and only if) I get a turn on your gorgeous Wide Glide! We'd also like to ride with you, if your group can accommodate, Mike. You can stop by here on the way up... it's right on the way!

Before the tequila kicks in, thought I better say HOLA to keep my P&Q membership active.
The extreme cold-to-extreme heat experiment is going well, no signs of going crazy yet..... slight headache each morning from the heat.... or was it the margeritas?
The east coast road from San Jose del Cabo to La Paz has some twisties that I gotta ride someday. Riding in a minivan did not do them justice. Maybe I can borrow the Z, Ken???

Well, back to the live action. Seems the Girls Gone Wild crowd was scared away by us Guts Gone Whale guys. Good thing got the wives here. (ok, maybe just a little crazy from the heat)

Mike - my wife just googled "swamp cabbage" - which I had never even heard of before. It said it's the heart of the Sabal Palm tree - like hearts of palm I guess? How do you guys prepare it? Just curious.

Here's a pic we found... looks pretty tasty!

Hey Ken,

Sounds like a good swap to me. Me driving the new red hot rod and you riding the ole evo wide glide. I know you are in North Ga. but not sure where. In north Ga. we are usually on 441. I will plan with the group to make sure we stop and see ya. Maggie Valley is a good spot and where we make our home base for riding. To the west is Deals Gap and the Cherohala Skyway, and to the east is Chimney Rock area. Great riding any where up there. Actually just do the Dragon's Tail because we are there. That road can be stressful if a lot of crotch rockets are there that day. I hate to have look in my mirrors more than looking ahead. I will make sure we stop to see ya and try to plan a day ride with ya. I am sure we will stay in touch through the P and Q thread.

Yes! Swamp Cabbage is the heart of a sabal palm tree. Alot of work to get to the part to eat. You can use a chain saw, but it gets fibers wrapped around it often. It is a regular item in this area. The next town west which is LaBelle, 30 miles away, has an annual festival that is called the Swamp Cabbage Festival. http://oldmanriggs.com/swampcab.html

The way I make it is to first fry 2 lbs of bacon and save the bacon and grease. Chop the cabbage into small pieces about the same way you would regular cabbage. Place in boiling water with the bacon and bacon grease. Add a little lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Simmer at just to the point of boiling for about a 1/2 hr. or until the cabbage is tender. Yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz - uh?

Been doing some initial planning for our summer trip next May, to Ljubljana, which you will need no reminding, is the capital of Slovenia. Also got engrossed sorting out my new 3rd generation TomTom Rider. I reckon I was their first customer (it hasn't been around long) who discovered a glitch, but that seems to be sorted out now. I have also made the discovery that we will only be about 60 miles from the Mediteranean, so must include a diversion in our itinerary, just to say we have been there.

Well if we are not actually hibernating over here, we might as well be. Yesterday, Saturday, Mrs B and I set off in the snow to our annual bike show in Birmingham (the original one, not THAT one!), wondering if we were wise to do so. It was the first day of the Show (goes on until next Sunday, if you're interested!) and the Show organisers must have been biting their nails with so much snow around.

We had a good day out and came home with a few bike brochures and a pair of new helmets, swish white Schuberths, with built in intercoms. It must be possible for modern technology to enable two people sitting a few inches apart on the same bike to talk clearly to each other, but what we have tried to date has not been very useful. Hopefully the inscrutable Germans have come up with the goods.

Mrs B was also impressed by the new SuperLow Sportster (available in brown!), so there may be a new addition to the family come spring. It is nice and low (smaller wheels than other Sportster models), also has a solo seat, which she likes the look of. 'My' Dyna below is really hers, but she struggles with the weight of the thing, which is why I get to ride it, so that will go. A bit disappointing, because I have only just put a pair of new Avons on it, not even ridden it with them on! Ah well.

It was 1 degree Fahrenheit below zero in Wales last night (anything you can do we can do better!!!!). Not so cold where we live, but we ain't goin' out to try our luck. We are keeping warm by sorting through cupboards and clearing out unwanted 'stuff'.

The thought of chips and cake gives me indigestion!
