I like the visors too.

You have definitely created one of the most beautiful highway machines I've seen. Bet you'll be getting checked out at any shows you go to.
Someone on another thread asked why we like Evos vs 96" TCs.
When they can look like Bertha, why would anyone ask?
Well thank you, thank you very much... (insert Elvis lip-sneer here)

What "things" rock? NorthGeorgiaButterfly wasn't even IN the pic!!!

I've tried, with my limited "real" mechanics skills, to make her mine, and dress her up the way I want her to be. She doesn't have any real "custom" stuff on her, mostly just bolt-on stuff, and some people may think she's way too kitschy - but I don't really care. She's mine, and she's evolved quite a bit from when we bought her in Feb 2007, and will continue to. Not fishing for compliments - but it makes me feel good when others appreciate my efforts.

I get some comments on her when I go to rallies and stuff - more in shopping center parking lots, really. People who just like the way she looks, and don't say stupid stuff like "Hey, why don't you have a Super Mario Bros 1248-B Hi-lift billet turbo-carb on that thing, like I have on my Ultra-Super-Mega-Glide? You'd get 18.7 more top-end HP!" A lot of people look for awhile but don't say anything. It's all good. I think that someday I may have her painted in some wild color, like the HOK Dry Turquoise Pearl, fading to deep purple candy on the bottoms. I had that color scheme floating around in my head for quite awhile now...

I'm just glad to HAVE a Harley to ride, courtesy of my wonderful NorthGeorgiaButterfly, and to have found this great place with so many great people. I've learned a ton here, from guys who have lots more real-world experience with Evos than I ever will...

Brother, you and Butterfly better have long tassels on your riding jackets! (you thought there was nothing left to spend $$$ on, hahahaha)

and one thing I bought (for my wife's sake) is a Cardo Scala setup. She gets to talk to me without shouting, it has bluetooth with crystal clear sound, AND each rider gets to listen to their own choice of music. She has hers, and I have mine, and we are both happy

that's all I got tonight

Sweet add ons. Ebay seems to be the place to go for our EVO's now adays, I walk into any Harley dealer and there is rarely anything on the displays for the EVO's. I just ordered a new sundowner seat and memphis bell windshield ordered for my wifes 99 sporty, I figure that'll soften her up for the new paint job this winter.

Now you can save on taxes too, since your municipality can lay off the street sweepers!

Okay my Evo friends, someone hook me up with stories about a ride you've taken recently...Baby is still in the shop and it looks like she won't be released until mid-week. I am jonesing for that feeling you get about mid-ride...you know...hmmm, how to describe it? "Zen", all is right with the world, satisfied, content, let's all sing kumbaya, eat cake, etc....Someone hook me up with details about a fabulous ride PLEASE!

Hey Woman,

Just waiting on time to leave to meet up with some friends for a little ride this morning. Most of my rides lately have to been to work 15 miles away. All of them have been good and love that feeling. Talking about zen! I know about that experience it every time I get on the bike. My mp3 player is also called a zen.

We had a little cooler weather in south Florida for a few days. Our cooler weather is lows in the low 70s this time of year, but now our low this morning was 78. Another month and it will be great again.

Hope you guys and guys have a great day!

Mike

I was lucky - the dash top cover and the headlight nacelle came chromed. Bertha is the very last year of the old FLHS front end, which they kept on in the 1994 and 1995 Police E-Glides, until the Road King Police came out in 1996 and the "toaster dash" was relegated to the history books. A lot of stuff came already chromed on those bikes, which is nice. That was back when the MoCo was flush with cash, and they put a lot of bling on the Police bikes in that ere. The chrome was one of the things that caught my eye when we first saw her sitting there, in fact.

I like Bertha's toaster dash because all of the instruments, idiot lights, turn signal lights, etc. are right there together and easy to see. I also like having the big windshield instead of a fairing, cuz I can see a lot more. And I LOVE the big red PURSUIT light below the speedo, too... which I have wired to always be ON!

Here's what she looked like when we first bought her... those ugly hockey pucks on the saddlebag lids were there very first thing to go, followed by that rock-hard Corbin seat that put my legs to sleep after 30 minutes on it. Then things really started to get out of control!

Yeah - we bought some really expensive voice-activated units to allow us to talk with each other up to about 2 miles away - but Butterfly wears a full face and she just never got used to the mic, and she just doesn't DO technology well at all anyway - so we stopped using them. They are REALLY nice units that clip onto your belt, but we just don't use them.

If anyone's interested, PM me and I'll send you more info about them.

I'm lucky to live in north Georgia, and the beautiful mountains are only an hour away. We ride up there all the time, and into western NC for longer rides.

But the BEST ride I've been on in awhile was the Ride to Remember on Sept 12 that I wrote about earlier in this thread, sponsored FREE by CycleWorld of Athens, GA, to honor and remember all those who perished in the 9/11 attacks, and all of the brave firefighters, policemen, and of course all of our brave Armed Forces personnel.

We had 600 bikes going from Athens, GA up to Hiawassee, GA on a stunningly BEAUTIFUL full-sun day, with police escort and everything. At one point, we were snaking down into a mountain valley, and came around a curve, and there was a Care Flight chopper sitting there about 100 feet away and 30 feet off the ground, just hovering in a little meadow, filming us. That gave me goosebumps! And at certain points, we'd be coming down a hill, and you could see the hundreds of bikes in front of us winding around the curves and going up the next hill as far as you could see. The Rolling Thunder was thrilling!

Talk about a "zen" moment... during that ride I just felt as if I was a very small part of something much bigger, and far more important, than just a ride. It was the most awesome ride I've been on in years. Next year, it will actually be ON 9/11 for the 10th anniversary Ride, on a Sunday. Gonna have to gear up psychologically for that one... I highly recommend anyone anywhere near Atlanta plan to ride in it.
