It seems as though the peace and quiet in the EVO forum has been disturbed as of late, hopefully the disturbance won't get to this thread! (oops, maybe I should whisper....)

If I had to pick a suggestion it would be to freshen up the dash somehow. That's the part I'm believing you see the most. The rest is what we look at when you ride by.
(still waiting for Graham to hit you with the engine, brake, suspension and swingarm upgrade suggestions )
To tell you the truth the dash is something I really don't like and the best I could do to help it out was change all the interior bulbs and get the trip odometer working. I've done research in the past with no good results fr replacing the inner fairing to the Classic or Ultra style as I don't like the plain cop bike style, so saying that is it possible that a newer style inner fairing could fit on the fork style I have or is there any differnce in bolt up? As for the paint job it does have a certain personality but when it was painted something went wrong with the paint and you can see bubbles like there was bad paint or clear used. The tour pack really does need attention , it has cracks\brakes where the ultra style speakers would bolt on and irritates me to death as I'm really no body man.

Reasons why I'd like a twinkie:
1-vibrates less

Does that answer your question? :P
I know most will agree that what I like is what they like too
we have nothing to envy twikines,we can come across 60hp with cheap bolt ons, while the twinkie evolved from 88" to 95" and just gained 1hp in the process, asfar as chrome goes... what'sthe difference? twinkie chrome looks shinier because it´s virgin chrome... does not have the history our evos have... it's like comparing old caddy chrom to the new chrome on cars!

PS: brought some strawberry ice cream with some cherries but nobody wanted, so I ate it
Obviously a well thought out opiniion, I like your view.

Speaking of shiny, when we were in the dealer a couple of weeks ago, my wife was looking at all the new bikes and said "they look just like Bertha, but they're not as shiny." That made me chuckle. And she's right... the overall H-D bagger look really hasn't changed much at all since the Evo was introduced, and the Shovelhead baggers before that looked pretty similar, too. You can dress up an older bagger with various parts to make it look very "new".

Anybody bring any cake, cobbler, pies, french pastries, ice cream, or anything else tonight? I'm in a hotel with none of these treats readily available...
Absolutely correct and as mentioned by schwangster the inner fairing is what need work, the cracks in is like carrying extra baggage that I can't dump.

ridemywg, I've owned my 1990 Evo from new and it has been through several states of tune. I started by riding it stock, but early in its life I did all the 'stage 1' things, plus an Andrews EV27 cam, which woke it up a lot. Living in the UK the 'International' models we got were more restricted than US versions, so they had more scope to improve them.

But one thing leads to another and after a few years I had it stroked, heads flowed, high comp pistons, etc and ran it for several years like that. I have commented about it here on HDF before and one or two of the regular dealers have commented that they know how to get similar performance without stroking. So if you would like a little more 'go' consider talking to a few of the regular specialists on here.

However, be warned! More 'go' begats the desire for even more GO! I now have an S&S V107T, which has a remarkably flat torque curve and a little over 100HP/TQ, which should be enough for any 'Evo' rider! But......

I'll save the other things I've done for another day!
Thanks Graham
To tell you the truth after giving it the cam and the total motor rebuild I'm quite content with the torque I'm getting she pulls real good. And when its running and it does run well the sound of the motor is awsome and the bike does turn heads not that I really care. Although now that I think of it the 4th gear miss also turns heads once in a while.

#11, a dude says a new 95 version fairing and dash will fit a 89 Ultra
If there's not much a difference between ur FLHTP and an FLHTC then this mod should freshen up the look

Yes, I have to admit the odd miss is an excitement too much! I find mine tend to be caused by not letting the gear-lever and positive-stop mechanism reset after the previous change.

Have had that gear-miss too.
Always blamed it on operator error,
but not any more!

You may want to check into a few suspension mods, ie a True Track and some Ohlins (or similar).
That would get your handling into another zone, and THEN you can decide about switching bikes.
