thanks, Mike.
When I put the new crossover pipe gasket in, it changed the idle, so I adjusted the jetting and the idle is pretty slow. I'll turn it up a bit.
Sure runs nice now that the leak is fixed. Not sure where the old gasket went.
Love my Super E too.

Wink

Low idle speed means the crankshaft fluctuates significantly in speed during each revolution, putting undue loads on the moving parts. It slows down on approaching each compression, speeds up on each firing, etc. It probably does that at 'proper' idle speed too, but to a much lesser extent.

My Super G is most satisfactory!

My manual says 1000-1050 RPM for idle. From what I've read, Evo oiling systems don't function well under about 800 RPM, so I have Bertha's set at about 1050. She sounds pretty good at that speed, too.

New toy for Bertha! Got a new chrome Arlen Ness Derby Sucker with a stainless steel covered filter on the way, and a Joker Machine finned chrome derby cover for it, to match all of the other Joker finned covers and the fuel door and console on her.

I like the Hypercharger Pro that's on her now, but I really don't like the way the breathers are handled - ugly black rubber covers on the breather bolts, with black rubber hoses going down to the backplate. It gets messy because the rubber boots on the breather bolts don't contain all of the oil mist, and oil drips out of them. Not a lot, but enough to get things messy after a few hundred miles. I hate cleaning up oil leaks!

The Ness Sucker has nice looking chrome breather bolts that vent directly into the backplate with no hoses at all. It's supposed to get here tomorrow or Friday. I can't wait to get it on her!

cranked the idle up this morning, and it's a lot smoother.
Congrats on your new chrome stuff, Ken. More pics are always nice.

Let me guess, in your avatar picture, you're about to pour that beer into the cake batter mentioned earlier, right?

I can't keep up with Dale's pics! That is a British glass of beer old chap, so quite unsuitable for German beer cake!

German, British or Canadian, it WAS the perfect beer on the perfect day on the perfect patio on the Sunshine Coast (Pender Harbour)

Still coming to terms with putting beer in cake.

You could always use Lucky. I consider that cooking beer.

How about "Keg" brand beer? Is that still made? It certainly isn't fit for drinking.
