Default oil coming out of the breather???

good afternoon all. i have a 99 softail with 150 lb of compression in both cylinders. it has an S&S carb on it. i keep getting oil coming out of the breather that goes between both rockers and goes into the carb. drips a bit, seems like more when you have it at higher rpm's. i am assuming i am pressurizing the crankcase with compression from the combustion chamber........but my compression is good..............any ideas?

I have the same bike same year, and mine will do that when it is over full in the tank. Try taking about 6oz. of oil out of the tank and see if that clears it up. You may have to run it a bit to get all the old oil out of the breather system. Worth a try anyway.

I also vote toward an overfilled oil tank (at least until we get an update/more info)

ok, you may be on to something.......it didnt do this when i got it, i lowered the bike a little and i did the oil changes myself, and always err on the conservative side with more oil but my level is always towards the lower of the 2 lines. i am not sure if my oil dip stick is the stock one. it has a chrome cap and is rather short with the 2 lines. do any of you have a roundabout measurement of how far down from the top of the fill tube your level sits? this leak is really bothering me.....Thankyou all for the advice!!

I keep my oil level about an inch below the fill tube, if it is up into the fill tube, it is too full.

Keep oil level a little low and no problems i have a 98 super glide 52,000miles and no oil leaks let the blike warm up and never over fill like the dealers do. I know that it takes 3 qts but she will be over

ok, last night when i went home, i drained my oil tank out by the drain at the bottom.....i didnt change the filter because the oil change wasnt that old......the oil tank only took 2 new quarts to keep it an inch under the fill tube........is this right? if it says 3 quarts in the manual (which i know is too much), where is the other quart supposably held? the filter doesnt hold much. .......how much oil do you guys use after an oil change with filter? 2.5 quarts?

i couldnt get the tappet screen bolt out last night........i guess i have to find that special tool. why wouldnt they make it a tad taller or something so you can actually get it out if your suppose to clean it all the time?

i took the k&n filter out and cleaned it and its sitting there drying.

i hope when i finish all this, it wont blow by anymore.........i'll let you guys know!!! thanks again for all the ideas!!!!
