Yeah, I bought a set of Kury foot pegs with the mounts for the Sportster at the Kury booth in Sturgis, '06 and my wife rode home with them on the bike (1K miles). They were about $80. In '07, I converted it to EFI and I was riding it around datalogging and tuning with the pentop and one of the pegs just vanished. I looked at the other one and it was loose. The outer part was just press fit on the inner part. You might get by with that on a rubber mounted mike, but on a solid mounted motor, it disintigrated. I replaced them with some Genuine H.D. ones and they are holding up fine.

I got the 21" DNA rim with the 80 spoke on ebay for $200, I also ordered the matching Metzler tire also, only been on since Chrismas, but I'll be checking it. Sorry your going through that but thanks for posting that picture. That's a bit scary.

Hello HGM,

Remember me! I asked you about your Ultima wheels about 6 months ago. Sorry to hear about your wheel. I ended up buying buying the DNA 80 spoke for the front and rear chrome billet hubs and stainless spokes. So far they look all is fine after about 5 thousand miles. If I remember correctly the Ultima are imported and the DNA wheels are made in California. I paid right around $300 each for mine from here.

Hope you get some satisfaction!

Why don't you guys just buy a new rim in whatever size you want, some spokes and lace it up? That's what I did way back with a 75 XLH. You can get just a rim and spokes pretty cheap and re-use your existing hub.

Personally, I like mag wheels.

Honestly, after the trouble I had with the Ultimas and my Rev Tech push rod, I'm getting much more selective than I probably need to be. I checked on a set of Buchanon twisted stainless spokes today, just for my old 40 spoke rims.. They were $220, just for the spokes!! Then, if I have my indi true and balance them (even if I lace them), its gonna be another $150.. I'm back to $400 for a used wheel that I trust. But, its still not 80 spoke. So, add the cost of a new hub and rim and I'm up to $6-700, doesnt sound too cheap... Just thinking out loud........ I do appreciate the suggestion, it may be the direction I go for the rear, but the whole quality of parts thing has me a bit skittish right now..

I think $150 to true and balance a rim is a bit much. Your indy should be able to true a rim in a half hour of shop time if he has ever done it before. Or you could take that $150 and buy your own wheel truing stand. Or make your own for probably $20 worth of scrap and a HF dial indicator. All they are is a stand to hold an axle and stick a dial indicator on. Anyway, I, personally, would rather have a Genuine H.D. used hub that I knew than some type of aftermarket new hub that I didn't, but if you need a different hub for more spokes, I guess that's what it takes.

Yea, I've gotten to know him a bit over the last year or so and he's a good guy. Honest and straight forward.. His reasoning was that he charges 2hrs to lace, true and balance wheels.. When I said I'd lace them myself, he said, I'm probably going to have to lace them again.. Being in the auto business, I can totally understand where he's coming from.. I'd have said the same thing if he was going to partialy do a job that he wanted me to complete..

So, I've got a dial indicator and can easily make a stand for nothing. My hessitation revolves around not doing it before and being concerned that I get out of order when tightening the spokes and making things worse as I do it. Then I'd have to pay him anyhow... I'm up for a challenge, if you've got some tips, I'll give it a shot.. I'd hate to cause a problem by making them too tight or something..
