Started with checking the battery cables and sure enough 1 was loose, I tightened it up and put the battery tender on it over night and in the morning she was running like just fine. Haven't had the light come on again or anything. All has been good.
I was having trouble with my RKC running funny and flashing the check engine light. The bike showed it had stored codes 11 and 12. I did a little research in the EVO forum and found your post above after doing a search on codes. I too had a less than tight battery connection. As soon as I tightened them up my bike ran better at startup. The idle was more steady and consistent. That should take care of the problem.

I was thinking I was going to have to do a bunch of work to find out what the problem was, buy one of those break out boxes, etc. and throw money at it. Saved me a ton of time and money. You got a tall, cold beer on me if I ever run into you.

Thanks Carl, I know what you mean you don't know where to start looking and it turns out to be something so simple. Have a good Christmas.

Battery terminals are common to work themselves loose. Not a bad idea to check the battery whenever normal maintenance is being performed.

Default ck engine light

Glad to see you found the problem. I have a `97 RK with FI and had the same problem awhile back.Tightened up the cables and no more problem. This has happened to me a few times so I always ck.the cables about once a month.I think bike vibration is intense in that area.Skip C

Good to hear, a simple fix. The 95-96 has to have a scanner, 97-98 ecm was updated to OBD1 onboard diagnostics and flash codes. The 3 key on/off brings up codes on my 97 RK.

Robzuc97, impressive information but I think it is for the Delphi OBD2 system, far superior than the M&M.

Merry Christmas to all, I made a Christmas day ride last year in 30 degree Ohio weather but this year my heads are off, what a shame, it warmed up to the 40's.
