New EV-27 cam
I just bought a new EV-27 and set of lifters for my 88 E-Glide, I know there are lots of people running the 27 on this forum, and I was just wondering what kinda of idle I can expect. Sort of hoping it would have a good sounding idle, but I also know from building alot of car engines most good low end torque cams have a close to stock idle. I know that people have said they are alot better cams for baggers, but most of my riding is spent solo and not loaded heavy.

I have a 93 Fatboy and installed a 27 last Winter. Just put a 2000 mile road trip on it and I am happy. Gives me that little edge going thru the mountains. Idle, not much difference. A little lope but barley noticeable. Change out your cam bearing for sure. The cam is a well used cam on the site here.

Here is a link to our old bagger at idle when we had the 80" with a ev-27 and boomcans.

Recently I took out the 80" and put in an Ultima 113, and it sounds much different.

Same cam in mine, 1992 FXR, idle was the same but mid-range improved alot and at idle it seems to 'bark', no soft edge there. I then changed the exhaust system to one without a balance pipe and I'm sure I've 'lost' some mid-range, hard to be exact without a dyno run. As mentioned don't go over 9.5:1.

Thanks for the great feedback, i am kicking around the idea of going ahead and getting some headwork done while i have it tore down, The way the weather is playing out so far it looks like i am going to have plenty of time to work on it. Does anybody know of a good place in WNC to get heads done?
