Default Location of vin on 84 EVO

Im trying to find the vin on my 84 FXRS... it was painted wrinkle black, so it is hard to spot the numbers... I need a general idea of where the vin should be located.

Pictures are helpful!

Thanks,

Sam

They're stamped on or just behind the steering neck, right side. Also, stamped on a decal on the right downtube of the frame (if it's still there). There's an abbreviated serial number on the left side of the engine block, just under the rear cylinder.

I found the one on the frame....

The serial number should be a part of the vin right? And its under the rear cylinder? Cuz there is a number under the front cylinder towards the front... but I didn't think it would be further back.

Thanks

Correct - part of the VIN. Don't know about the "front" number. So long as something matches the title, you're probably alright.

"They" only care that you're not drinking and that you are wearing your seatbelt......

As posted before for the VIN and the partial VIN. There is also the 10-digit engine number which I believe is stamped by the oil filter housing on the crankcase on EVO's is the "serial number" for the engine that does NOT match the VIN but can be used to identify also if your title has a "different number". Most titles use the VIN for the bike and the partial VIN for the engine though.
