Default S&S super E mounting problem

I'm mounting a S&S super E complete kit on my 1996 fatboy. Everithing ok but when i'm mounting breathing screws through backplate ears, there is a misalignment of a couple of millimeters that not allow to mount breathing system. I re-read installation instructions and i saw they suggest not to tighten manifol bolts until this step. But how can i tighten screws whene carburator and backplate are installed? I have to remove the tank?
And what happens if i drive without breathing screws? i will damage the engine?

I usually romove the horn on the left side Align the carb then tighten the allen bolts on the manifold then the carb bolts to the manifold You can get a special wrench for the allens (Jireh cat P/N 97-274 ) Jireh phone # 877-681-0448 S&S does give you shim washers for these breather bolts Get it right or you will have oil city !

are you talking about the breathers in the rocker heads, if so i would think you would build up a lot of pressure and get a leak somewhere else.
