Primary Leak

Yea, thats a pretty crappy comment..The leaks I've fixed have not returned, hell, the ones I've fixed are more due to lack of use over the age than anything else.. Even the leak I'm chassing nowwill hardly ever make it to the ground. Thats a typical metric type comment based on the AMF days... But, everyone's got an opinion...

Well I did ride it fairly hard to test the mount so it's very possible that a 14 year old tranny seal gave out. Definitely not the primary, that drain plug is just a convenient spot for the oil to drip from. Once my service manual gets here it looks like I'll get my first lesson on primary chain case removal and repair. And, I expect a motorcycle to breathe a little oil and to vibrate, in this case both are over-the-top and I'll be sorting it out so it's in good order for some serious riding.

You do have to get the tension off the belt Get the rear end up loosen axle and adjusters kick the rear tire forward At this point I put a mirror under the area by the trans ( plus a good light ) take a long screw driver and see if the sprocket moves side to side meaning the nut is loose If it's tight then you can have a good light beer and wait for winter to pull the primaries off to replace the seal
