my personal prefrence - I'd avoid multi-weight oil (20-50) and definitely stay away from synthetic

I have run syntec 20-50 for years...I would love to know why you stay away from both?

Oil pressure issues at high temps and low speeds / cost of synthetic

Again just my preference and certainly, I'm big on what works and like people, pieces of machinery all have their unique personality and needs

A never ending topic, but living in Florida,

I use 20/50 Redline in the winter and their 20/60 in the summer. Never had a problem with the use of synthetics. That is my humble opinion and I'll stick to it as the ambient air temps are much higher here than in other parts of the U.S.

It is a documented fact that the synthetics do not break down as fast at higher temps. I also use MTL in my primary and Mobil One 75/140 in the trans and have never had a problem. No matter what, have you ever heard of an oil related failure? Proper maintenance and using a quality product is the key and pays dividends in the long run.

I just did major performance mods to my engine at 18K. The engine lower end was as clean inside as they day it was built (1993). I'll stay with a proven combination even though it costs a few bucks extra for the piece of mind.

Good luck with you decision!

Default Actually.....

I think i have made up my mind on the oil-as I have stated I have run Castrol Syntek 20-50 for years (and infact castrol brand for 20 years) But i am curious. I know there are a great deal of you folks who care about their bikes so its always good to "Check in" as they say. I was surprised when Hotrod said he ran Castrol for Motorcycles-I had no idea such an oil existed. I would like to hear more about it, where do you get it? and of course what is the difference with that and regular sytek 20-50?
As far as pipes are concerned when i can afford it i will probably go with the two in one Thunderheaders.....i am curious though since i have a 91 FXR, i have heard that Dyna pipes fit of similar years will fit my motorcycle.....Is that true?
Thanks for wieghing in,
Dave
P.S. I certainly don't intend to spark an arguement i just was curious as to what oil you-all run.

RevTech 25-60 Dinosour. I like it a lot but will switch to Amsoil soon because I have a couple cases laying around.

Bub/Rinehart duals. Best pipes I've ever had.

I run Mobil 1 15w-50 automotive oil from wally world. 75w-90 in primary and 75w-140 in trans. works well for me. Bike is 1995 Road king. The syntheic can take the Texas heat better.
