Default I Want an Evo

Call me retarded, but I want a bike with an Evo motor. There's just something about the way they sound. I currently have an 06 fatty, but am thinking about buying a second bike with an Evo just for the sound.

Any recommendations on finding a cheap Evo bike, what to avoid, what to look for????

FXR's are cheap and the best handling big twins H/D ever made, just my 2 cts.
If I were buying a Harley based on sound alone it would be a Shovel.

I bought an Evo road king on Ebay for 10k. Only had 2,500 miles on it (thats not a typo). Guy bought it new and never rode it. Sold it to a friend who bought it for his Dad who also never rode it. Mighty nice of those guys to hold it for me. So my 10 year old bike is basically brand new.

I looked all over the place for about 6 months before running into the ebay ad for the bike. A buddy of mine at work tried to find the ad but couldn't. I was the only bidder. Guess I was pretty lucky.

I had to change the valve cover gaskets as they were leaking from all those years of sitting around in a garage. Other than that, it's brand new. It's also ridden daily, except on weekends which are reserved for blasting around town on the ironhead.

I'd have to agree with Y2K, some of the fxr's are going cheap and they are fairly easy to find. It seems like it doesn't take alot of coin to trick them out and make them into hotrod harleys. Very versitile model. imo. Evo's are excellent engines.

Yea, it looks like an FXR is what i'm seeking. Y2K...you're right about the shovel sounding better, but from what I'm gathering, the Evo is more reliable and easier/cheaper to get parts for and keep going.

It's nice being in the situation i'm in because I already have a bike and can take all the time in the world waiting for the right deal to come along.

I'm partial to them myself. Sold a TC to get my current ride.

Now if I can just find a FXR or Shovel to go with it!

Got that right. My 89 Evo sounds 'more like a Harley' than all the new Twinkies regardless of their exhaust mods, especially after the cam change. The other night I had gone to an outdoor concert by the water in Mystic CT, parked my bike, and was walking down the main drag trying to find a place to get a sandwich. A cammed-up, drag-piped Shovel slowly passed by and made me think, "Now that's what a Harley is supposed to sound like!"

They are also just a hell of a lot of fun to ride,I owned one for 10 years and put over 120,000 miles on it.
