Default New Piston And Cam

I'm thinking about putting a high compression piston, maybe 10.5.1 or 11.1 compression ratio in. I'm also thinking about the S&S 585V cam. Please tell me your opinion and experiences.

I had SE heads, camand 10:1 pistons put in my Evo Dyna a few years ago. The extra HP is nice but I now wish I had put comp releases in to make starter's job a bit easier. Make sure you get timing right or you'll get plenty of pinging even with 93 octane gas. All said, it's definitely more fun than it was for the first 65k miles.

I have 11:1 Wiseco pistons with a Crane 310 cam .550 lift. I had my stock heads port and polished. We put it on the dyno last weekend and it put out 80hp 75tq. I put a 2.0 kw starter on it and don't need the compression releases.
