Got a blanket question for you though... It seems that everyone else is good with it too, but I'm curious why you would run 20-50 in all three holes?? It seems that it would be too thick.. I'm a car guy, by trade, and would never think of running a heavy oil in a manual reansmission because of engagement concerns. Also, why would the primary need a thick oil to lube the chain? Seems to me that an ATF would be a better choice for the trans and primary... Its a little off subject, but I'm just curious, plus, you'd be able to tell what was leaking..
It is beyond me why it seems so many use the same oil in all three too. The motor call for a 50w basically, HD has called for a 50w for over 90 years. The primary needs a thinner weight 10w or 20w max, ATF sounds perfect. The tranny calls for a 75w like your manual tranny on your car. To be honest HGM I am tired of talking oil weight. You are right, I am right. They are wrong and some will argue with usthat we are wrong past common sense. Go figure.
Yea, it seems odd.... BTW, Ford, for example has used ATF in their manual transmissions for over 20yrs..

I did not know that Ford uses ATF in manual trannies. I guess that comes from not being a big Ford person. Every manual tranny that I have looked at uses the 75-90w fluid. My Jeep wrangler uses ATF in the transfer case, but not in the manual tranny? Live and learn.

Thanks for the info.

As a rule, the thicker the oil, the more parasitic drain on HP/Tq. This effects fuel economy, much more of an issue on a car than bike. Dont mean to hi-jack, I thought it was relevant..

Please let us know what you find..
