i believe the first click should be everything on but lights, and the second click to right should add the lights. i messed up when i wired my switch and the lights are on with both the first and second click. i should fix it in case i get a weak battery it would be nice to be able to start without the lights turned on.

Been riding for 35 years...my '85 FLT has the option to have the lights on or off. Law here in theU.S. allow this because when the bike was madeit was not manditory to have them on at all times. However, with the way most people drive these days, keepin the lights on at alltimes gives you a little betterdefense...they might not notice you otherwise. Just my two sense worth...

There is a short yellow jumper wire between two posts on the ignition switch, remove it and lights will only come on at the "lights" position. I did that so I could start without lights if necessary, less drain and strain on the battery. JMHO, YMMV, etc.

(Edit) After I wrote this I realized (duh) you were talking about a FXR, I am not sure if they are wired similiar to the softails, but I would imagine so. If you have a service manual, the wiring diagram would show the jumper.
