Default RE: RE-Painting engine advise?

Thanks for all the advise.

I'm only planning on pulling the heads and jugs so I don't think the oven would be good for the short block would it?

I'm not sure if they powder coated it back in 91, but I don't think that would work because I'm not tearing it completly down.

I'm thinking the Black wrinkle paint and use my dremel to polish the fin edges. Does HD offer it in High Temp Spray Cans?

How to get the smell out of the oven??? Well,Thats a different problem all together..... I'm still curious aboout the Powder coat idea, if you arent taking it all apart, I gues it wont work for you. But, would it really liquify under running conditions???? Sounds silly to me, but I dont know..

Yes HD powdercoats their engines, so do a lot of hotrodders. No it will not liquify at temp or nobody would do it. Yes they make a wrinkle black powder.

I've never seen a painted engine that looked good as stock. That S100 enginebrightener is the best thing since sliced bread. I use it all the time and it hides a nicks. Last a long time too.

No doubt, great stuff. We've been using it for years. But, after 13yrs, the black is getting pretty thin. If/when I have to do mine, I really like the powder coat idea..

I have used high temp black motor paint on all my motors 350 chevy's 3 evo's 2 twinkies that were all nutural finish. then used laquer thinner and a wash cloth and an index finger to take the paint off of the fin edges. workd for me. 2 cans @6$ ea. (wal mart) cant beat that!!

Diamond cutting is I think more of a cosmetic thing. The diamond cutters say it cools your bike 18% more, but for $500 bucks I think it should probably do a lot more than that.......
