Default VOES broken?

When I kick start my FXWG the VOES light comes on (on the Dyna2Ki module) during the kick before ignition. I think that would advance my timing and interfere with the bike starting. You don't want the advance to kick in until it is running. According to my documentation the VOES (when on) advances the timing by 10 degrees at low RPM.

Do I need to adjust or replace my VOES switch?

Great info, but nobody says how to reprogram starting revs to dead zero for kick only.

Go to this website, http://www.dynaonline.com/skins/downloads/

download and install the Curvemaker program for Harleys, read the instructions, get a programming cable from Dyna, or here: https://sites.google.com/site/vrusb2000i/ and program your ignition with 0 dead revs.

Otherwise you can have a shop do it for you.

Yes, but it will require reprogramming the dead revs back to zero (0). Out of the box, the 2000I has 3 dead revs like a stock Harley-Davidson System. This is also a benefit for high compression motors using an electric starter. The kick must not start on the compression stroke (sensor in the window on the cup). Stopping ‘in the window’ will execute the soft turn off. The leading AND trailing edges of the window must be seen by the 2000i to make a spark.
this is what dyna tech said to me.after timing TDC turn ignition until red light goes off lock there.now turn key on, switch run to off on the handlebars, bring kicker to where i use to kick to start it, pass that spot half way turn run and kick it.don`t you know it start`s right up.he said it because DEAD CRANK REV set at 3 need to change to 0. i`m going to make that that rs-232 programmer my shelf.but right now it at 3dcr`s.the crane hi4 use to start it with 1 kick. but until s&s get`s it right i`ll wait before buying the crane.
i run a su rivera on a 73 xlch kick only it suck`s changing the way it use to start right up.hoping when i change the dead crank rev`s to zero it start like the HI4 did.good reading here if anybody have or knows of prints for the dyna 2000i rs-232 cable if it`s null or straight cable.send a PM. thank you XLCH73.

I made a cable similar to the one described by Jtrapass here:
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/evo-c...ima-ign-2.html

I had to connect the cable and power on the ignition before starting the Curvemaker program. Otherwise the ignition was not found by the PC.

When you program the ignition the switches will no longer function. Make sure you set all of the parameters you need including single/dual fire, rev limit, and timing curve. If it screws up the performance, go to the diagnostics tab and click the button that reads "Use Switches" to set it back to normal.

goodluck

Pistons will meet a valve or it will chuck a rod before you there , trust me .

Had an 88" shovel I had balanced / blueprinted and tweaked in so far she'd stop making peak HP at 6800 and the tests went to 7200 till the cases fatigue cracked . I strongly suggest this not be tried at home .

Since I only have USB ports on my PC I built a USB to RS232 converter cable.

If you don't want to build your own you can find it cheap here: https://sites.google.com/site/vrusb2000i
