6 speed

RE: 6 speed
I put one in my wife's 94 fatboy to help her run with us on interstate. She liked it, but this year I change her drive belt so I went to a 31 tooth sprocket on the transmission, to me it was a little tooo tall. Sixth was useless unless above 65-68. It is better with the 31 tooth sprocket.

RE: 6 speed
Years ago I installed the first of the Jims 6 speeds. Forgot to remove taller sprocket I added. Returned bike to stock. Absolutely believe it was the best addition to my bike. Have at least 15,000 miles on it. No problems. In SoCal the speed limit is 65. You don't stay alive here unless traveling 75 more like 80 on the freeways when there open and running. I'm in 6th gear all the time. With a 95' Sputhe kit bike goes like hell.

I've got a Ultima in my 93 Fatboy with 17,000 miles on it and no problems. You do shift more but the close ratios make the bike a joy to ride. I order to take full advantage of the tranny you need to change the trans pulley. First gear in the Ultima is 2.94 and the Harley is 3.24. If you don't change the pulley first gear is way to tall and like DirtyDave said sixth isn't usable until 65 plus. What model are you putting it in?
