Default RE: 6 speed

Just installed a Ultima on my 90 electraglide. Didn't change pulleys. I know there is a difference in the rear pulleys on the fatboy and the eglide. I have no idea on the trans pulley. Mine is great in every gear as of today. Just finished last night andrun a couple hundred miles with no issues what so ever. Worked great. As stated above I didn't use 6th until 7o mph. Oh, I running an Ultima 107" el bruto engine also.

We've done lots of Ultima six speeds, we also use the 31 tooth pulley on stock/smaller motors . If you go this route PM usif you have any questions, wecan help you with any tech problems etc you might have.

When I did mine I converted to a chain to fit a 150 tire out back. Right now I have 24 tooth on the trans and a 51 on the wheel. The reason I went with this combo was this gave me the same gearing in first with Ultima as I had with the stock five speed and belt drive system. The gearings not bad but after speaking with Bob Wood I'm going to change the front pulley to a 22. Right now my overall drive ratio is 3.27, which is good for stock use. But once you start installing more radical cams that raise the power band, a ratio of 3.37 or more is recommended.

931 , If you do much hwy riding you will not like the 22/51 set up . I have a bike with 22/48 and that is some low gearing . 51 is just going to make it worse .

Most of my driving is on the highway. What is the ratio of your primary? The way the bike is now with the 24, it will do down to 55 in sixth but it is sluggish to say the least. The sweet spot the way its geared right now doesn't really hit until about 70. Using the gear ratio calculator on nightrider.com I'm geared similiar to the 07 Harleys in stock form. I read alot about the newer bikes being geared to high and they have 96 inches. Thanks for the input.

6th is supposed to be used until 65+ mph . I'm not sure of the primary gear on my custom . I has an open belt drive and a 150+hp motor . I would stick with the 24 up front on yours . At a max I would go with a 23 . 6th with my set up I shift to at about 55 mph . I might act different (worse ) with a small motor

Did some more research and I think I'm going to go with a 23 on the tranny. The cam I'm running is suppose to make power from 1800 up and with the 23 I'd be turning about 2200 at 55.

I put in a baker DD6 it comes with a 28t engine sprocket new longer primary chain andadjuster then I run a 32 tranny sprocket 65T rear sprocket. The gearing is great very smooth shifting is perfect I run a 127" motor so a smaller motor might want to gear it down a bit. First tried a 24 engine sprocket and put a 34 tranny sprocket I found the first set up better as the belt rubbed a bit on the shocks besides it's easier on the starter. It makes a world of difference and is the best tranny I ever tried. You can cruise at about 80, 3200 Rpm.
