Yeah, something in that pic above looks like it's off a bit. To me the rear pipe looks like its angled down ever so slightly which would cause the muffler portion to contact the front pipes muffler.

Ok. So because of the crossover pipe, I'm not going to get much. Can/should I loosen the clamp (35 & 36 in the diagram) at the pipe and spread it out a bit? I can probably still push that front muffler forward a tad. It is about a 1/4-3/8 from the shield, but the shield is loose and I can maybe push that back a tad too to keep it from contacting the muffler.

Could also cut the crossover pipe off flush and weld up the holes. Seen that one before, but it looks pretty good! I like the look. How much of a gap do you have?
If things are properly mounted, there should not be much movement to the mufflers. Especially if you go with that more rigid mounting bracket.
