Engine Oil Disappearing

Got the call! My parts are ready. I am waiting to talk to Hammer Dan as he made some changes to my original quote, same price in the end but swapped out the CP Carrillo 9.75:1 pistons for a set of Wiseco 10:1 Forged Pistons (no huge problem) but dropped the EVL 5005 .569 cam for a lower lift Reaper 543 Cam. Still needs the required headwork but interesting change.
Only ouch is to clean up the bores he went 30 over. That tells me I had some serious issues. Hopefully this sorts it all out.
I am getting excited!

Think we figured it out. Why the honing looked fresh. They had issues, slapped a set of rings on it and he sold it after it showing it had a consumption issue. I should of known I had some issues when the valve train kept getting louder and louder.
She's going to be right now and a blast to ride. Did some research on that Reaper 543 cam and it's more in tune with my riding style. I just want to be able to pass on the freeway or roll on it at 40 and get going. Vs a big mother thumper cam that Evo 5005 was.

A friend of mine put the Reaper 518 cam in his Evo Road King, it is a nice bagger cam. The biggest mistake that people make is going to a cam that pushes the powerband up too high in the RPM range on heavy bikes. I have no experience with the Reaper 543 cam, so I am curious how it works out for you. Let us know what you think of the cam once you have the bike together. Thanks

Reaper 543 specs below. All in all the cam pretty looks good, with that tight intake centerline (104) it will be interesting to see how well mannered it is around town under 2500 rpms. The compression increase will help, but you may need to look at other exhaust options.

I don't have that cam, however, it's a great feeling when you feel the cam kicking in and doing what it's supposed to do. I enjoy passing a vehicle without having to down shift. Enjoy!

Read your tale diligently, as I’m in the marker for an Evo Wide Glide. Noted your recommendation to witness a cold start (and what to look for). Hoping whatever I buy doesn’t come with as many issues! After all, every used bike is one owner, garage kept, well maintained and runs like a “raped ape”, right?
Looking forward to watching your reassembly!
