I'm with Eight Eight on this one. I have heard it called a bread box a time or two, but it was and is known as a ham can in the circles I ran in.

We always called them air cleaner or breather cover. I still do today. I still run an S&S Tear Drop Breather Cover, LOL!

Yes...I get that...And, The S&S Teardrop has been around a Very long Time..Never remember it being called much else besides teardrop...or simply S&S Air Cleaner!!! Somewhere around here I still have an L with one on it!!
Also made them for the Ka-sneeze carb pattern...Tin tho as I recall..Not Aluminum.. Course...Those May simply have been S&S Copies too...I dont have one!!
