Default I just changed a front tire

and I'm sore.

If these American Elites cup and split like the last pair did, I'm done with them and going home to 402s.

I ran the AEs on my Road King and loved them, never had a problem. Check the pressure weekly and you shouldnt have any trouble with them.

A) Did you warm the tires up (both the old and the new) before working with them?
B) Did you use a good lube?

Unless you have a tire machine, warming the tires is a huge help. And a good lube makes life easy. I change tires on my race bike frequently. I put the warmers on before unmounting, then the new tire to heat it up before mounting. That's a bonus. You can lay them out in the sun, or put them in front of a space heater for a bit too (that takes a while). Nothing crazy. The tire around 90 degress is enough. I used to use Windex or watered down dish soap. Both were just OK. BullSnot was awesome, but that dude was hard to work with. I'm using some generic brand I got from Amazon, and it works pretty well. Still, it does take a bit of muscle.

tires were not warmed up. I use a vegetable based lube I got with the tire machine. (one of the "no-mar" machines but still very primitive. I lube the hell out of everything.
