I went Saturday to the Suns of Speed race.. 211 miles only to find it cancelled. I was with a Triumph and the fellow who had never been to Biketober. We rode into Daytona and hit Main Street. Truthfully it’s been about 12 years since I’ve bothered to go. I gotta say, didn’t care for it. Not my thing. Lotta attitude, lot of lady’s who shouldn’t wear skimpy clothing letting it all hang out. Way way too many can-am weird bikes. Lots of drunk guys looking for Budweiser. I just don’t remember Skulls being so important on every t-shirt sold. Maybe at 51 what’s cool has changed? Dug the Indians though. Had a beer at Dirty Harry’s and Froggy’s then pretty much got out of there.
We rode south west through Tavares and hit Tiki West, called the wives in Cassia to drive up and meet us there. 3 dozen oysters and a few coffee porters made my stomach happy. Ended up back at my place and we sampled some bourbons and watched the sunset.
I’d rather hit other features of Biketober should I go again. I couldn’t find the bike show, use to be right on the last businesses facing the beach? The ride was spectacular, gorgeous day.
Biketober feast was a BIG DEAL to me when I was younger, riding from Ohio to Florida, Irony of now living here and I never feel inclined to go.
