Default Transmission drain softail

Helped a friend with his 93 Heritage, changed all the fluids. Had to really work to get to the drain plug for the transmission as there was not a lot of room with the exhaust pipe in the way. Does anyone have a better solution for the stock drain plug or is there a tool that makes it easier? Thanks.

I fight that transmission drain plug every time. (1995 evo) I find what works best for me is a short Torx #40 bit that fits the plug. I use a Gearwrench 1/4" ratchet box end wrench to turn it. Put the bit into the ratchet wrench, then line the bit up with the plug. I try to keep it from falling out with a screwdriver or what ever I can get in there. It falls out a couple of time. I cuss and threaten to take the exhaust pipe off. Then get it back in place and find that I have put the wrench in backwards, so turn it around and start over. Good luck. I will watch for other solutions as they appear.

Thanks - I used the same torx bit , but only had a small wrench to fit it. Used some duct tape to hold it together and got the job done. I like your solution much more.
