Finished up the turn signals this morning. Nice and tidy, works well, and bright. Wiring is all neat and soldered and shrink tubed. As the wire is hidden under the chrome strut covers at is pretty vibration proof. Made sure the wires were captured in their respective clips under the fender.
You really don't want loose wires under there and it's important to follow what the factory did to keep the tire from grabbing it and tearing them to crap.
Keeper kept in place
underside, cell phone selfie camera helps here
Done!

New tools, new toys....been doing carb tuning forever. Quadrajets, holleys, su and Bing, Bendix, CV, super E, even fuel injection. I'm comfortable with fettling them to perfection. But these new tools are interesting. Picked up a wideband setup, modified the Supertrapp cap to fit the sniffer device, and perhaps Sunday I'll have some time to play with data acquisition and realtime Co readings.

Reg and plate showed up today! Bike is legit. Went for a short ride, strong strong engine. But I need to address the steering stops on the lower tree. Bike is going to need a few more degrees of range to make moving around in the parking lot easier. Its a bit too limited.
Guess I'll have to tear the front end down so I can drill and thread new locations, though I'm open to ideas as well. Other than no stops, as it'll ding the tank up [tried that already]
They contact the frame not the stop on the center of the neck...

So I ordered a set of these off Amazon, they were cheaper than raw materials. The ears are super flimsy and the angle is wrong to clear the running gear on both sides. A cut-off wheel, grinder and welder fixed that. Along with some new ears cut from a bed frame.
From the ad. Round stock is heavy powdercoated and rigid.

Just got back, 2 up showed a couple issues. Passenger needs better footpegs, rear shocks are close to shot, and I've got some oil leaks to kill.
First two I'll address this week. Oil leaks from top of transmission, and around the oil drain plug underneath. Possibly coming down from the trans main seal. I'm going to change the trans fluid to something with color, easier to distinguish from motor oil.
Bike performed flawlessly, I like it, she likes it, winning.

Been two years got a few miles on it. Couple issues have come up. Mainly the lifetime front end is trash. Too much flex, and I don't have faith in it. Plus it's chromed...poorly. Spent some time shopping parts going with HD parts other than the rim. Fxdwg trees, '05 legs, '02 HD 4 piston caliper, the 05 legs let me go with progressive monotubes and 3/4" axle. I'll run my 19" wheel for the rest of the season then fit up a 16"
Stripped and polished the aluminum legs.
Couple pics...
Old front end still on
New legs.
Left polished, right waiting to be done.

So HD boxes, and s&s rocker arms and shafts....solved a problem I would have been unaware of except for puckered chrome and a small oil seep.
