The only rules are 35 years and older. For 2022, that means anything form 1987 and down counts as an Antique.

Where did the time go.............all that money spent on Women and Bikes, then the money I wasted!?!??!?!?!

Dyna's became Classic 2018.

Perhaps air cooled Sportster's will be Classic in a few years also.

Some states vary on that. I'm running Antique TN tags on my 1994 Fat Boy, 29 years old.. 25 years old is the starting point.
Which never needs renewing. And very liberal on use with these tags.

Why would you want to advertise the bike's OLD and spend the extra money for the plate?
Here in the tax you to death state, they up charge you at every renewal for specialty plates.
I'm not a club kind of guy so maybe that's it.

Historical plates and Specialty ( vanity ) plates are 2 different animals
Here Historical tags are a ONE time fee , no renewal for 40 years

Historical plates cost extra at every renewal.
Did these on my Bonnie at 25, thought they'd be cheaper.
Stupid me, this is NY

Ed Zachary! I will do a one time vanity to see what I get away with. Then I go back to standard plate .

I did my name, forward and backward. Currently have MFRG on my Road Glide. Techs love it as so many when out and about.
Have a few others as well as I collect state plates just cause.

If I ever get a garage built I will put up my plates again. Interesting what you can get on a plate. Like deciphering them. I know a classic/historical vehicle by looking at it, a specialty plate isn’t necessary.
