Blew my engine yesterday
#51
So I said "hell with it" & bought an Ultima 113 at the recommendation of a guy who owns one. I'll bring the old Evo home to dismantle & learn with. Got a decent deal at Jirehcycles.com. I wanted to do an engine swap for a while, preferably WITHOUT wrecking the original.
I guess what I needed was a good excuse lol.

Good question. From the looks of things, I'm certain the engine would have to come out to remove the valve covers.

I’m not so sure. I see they’re using socket head cap screws to hold the rocker shafts… could be they are recessed, allowing the covers to slide out. Or possibly remove the “center section” rocker box, then the cover will slide out.
I like the design better than the prone to leak 3 piece covers.

Comparing the two side by side, everything is just plain beefier with the Ultima engine. This thing is a chunk lol
