That lifter, that ain't good. I couldn't imagine the emotion of installing a lifter that sheds it's little rollers in your chest after a rebuild. I'm sure SnS is wondering what's floating around out there. Proven Performance.

That being said, no manufacturer is perfect, it happens.

I'm curious about the statement of S&S.
The valve stem is fine.

No manufacturer is 100% perfect.... otherwise there wouldn't be a need for waranty/garanty statements!! Just hope they back their product!

Aloha,
the actual statement from S&S:
The rocker arm looks like it has been ran longer than 5 miles or was in a bad bind to cause that kind of damage. I am not certain what caused the tappet to fail you should contact your seller for warranty.
I told S&S that I as a well educated and longtime experienced mechanic know what is usable and not.

I am also disappointed with the way they reply.
No hello and greeting or name who replied.
For a company, my expectation is a little higher, especially from my perspective as an SQE.
I would never reply to a customer or vendor in this primitive manner.
How ever the seller moved the case forward to S&S and now I'm waiting.

To be continued...

In the meantime I have ordered replacements from another supplier to finally get back on the road.

Aloha,
to complete the upgrade i have now added a Mikuni HSR42 carb.
Was an inexpensive offer on ebay but not the Chinese version.
The including adapter ring has a little deviation it covers the air jet and pilot hole.
So I adjusted with a file.
The test ride with this modification is open cause everyday it rains as much as possible and the some streets are flooded.
On other places they would be happy to get that rain.
at the test ride before I filed the accesses was nice a good response but it felt a little lame on top.
Probably the setup with the open K&N air cleaner and open Rinehart 4" Exhaust with the only modification are torque cones.
But the muffler inserts based on the Khrome Works HP-Plus Drag Pipe Baffle are in work and should get finished tomorrow probably that will increase the upper power.
It's an 160 main jet installed.

That is a stake indention that's done at the factory after the seats are installed - insurance that they don't loosen. They all have that it, some more pronounced than others unless the bowl has been ground / polished
