On an `89 you must hold the button in, once released the turn signal will stop. It`s a PITA.....

'87 was like that too. My '86 has "push on, push off" buttons. It's annoying also when you forget and leave them on.

Any of you guys ever used something like this?

One the guys local put one like it on his bike.
He was after the self cancelling as well.
The time out was a bit long on his and mentioned he could make a turn and felt the need to cancel it himself.

IIRC he sent it back, the second on suited him better.

That one should work

Default Sweet. I will order it up.

I will report back once it's done and let you guys know how it works and my feelings after I put some miles on it. Thanks for all of the help everyone. I'm sure there will be other questions to follow as I shake the dust out of this bike.

Default It's been a while.

I know it's been a while. Real life threw me some curves but I finally got back to tinkering with this bike. The module I posted earlier is wired in and working. It's pretty neat so far. Hold the buttons for 1 flash and the lights blink 7 times or so. Great for switching lanes on the highway. Hold the button in for two flashes and they blink 15 ish times. Great for when you are coming up on a turn. Hold the button for 3 flashes and they go for 45 blinks or so. Nice when coming to a stop street / light and turning. Definitely not the best but is a whole world better than holding the buttons in. It also has the hazard function and plays nice with LED lights.

My guess would be the multi pin connector in the main wiring harness closest to the actual turn signals be it the front or rear.

a little more detective work with a meter and the schematics will be required if that was the case
This^^^^^^^
When I removed my rear signals, I I removed the wires also.
