Default 1990 Heritage softail classic trans oil plug location

I know they say trans drain is between the 2 shocks but ive looked for awhile and nothing resembles a drain. Before you say look at a shop manual i have. Not a single reference to location. Thanks.

Needless to say the drain isn't between the shocks.
If you look just below the right side cover of the transmission you will see a socket for a T-40 bit.
It is right in the middle and that is your drain plug.

In the 1991-1992 FSM look at page 7-6, figure 7-6. You'll see the drain plug at 6 o'clock position. May have to take the rear pipe off to get it out. I had to last one I took out....

Now you know not to listen to "they".

Nobody here says look at a shop manual...

We say look in the genuine Harley Davidson Factory Service Manual.

The real Service Manual will tell you exactly where it is.

Hint...the trap door.

We have had some posters who couldn`t find the drain on their Evo Softails, not on bottom, not on side...

Turns out they had bought transmissions that had been put together with the wrong trap door (these were not factory transmissions, they were all bought online from a well known auction site).

If you have one in the bottom of the trans then it isn't original.

They started putting plugs in the bottom of 5 speed Softail transmission cases when they went to TC and new frame.
