Default Exhaust Baffle Problem

Well, riding to work one morning on my 1996 Fatboy (bought used w/ only 11+K miles) when I hear this disgusting rattle. When I parked, I noticed the baffle sticking out of the rear pipe. The back end of the baffle snapped off, blew out with all the packing. I pulled the front baffle out so the jugs would breathe evenly. It would be nice just to replace the baffle(s) but I cannot identify the maker of these pipes. Are they Harley?

You can see the back end of the baffle is missing and the packing blew out some where along the road.

Are these an OEM Harley header? They are one piece, not slip on.

Is there a way of identifying these slash cuts? I do not see any markings.

Not stock pipes, would have the horizontal crossover if stock.

Some baffles can be re-packed and re-installed. Probably just the screw that holds them in fell out.

Or time for new pipes, good luck.

Guess what... any Dyno, and/or Race track trip will certainly show you that you just Lost a significant bit of HP.
Someone can identify that Exhaust... But, it ain't me.. Good luck... Perseverance...

Ditto, check the baffle and muffler for a bolt through section that a bolt is used to hold the baffles in place. Hence may just need to rewarp the baffles insert and bolt them back in place.

If not bolted in, but where welded in place, then still not hard to re-wrap the baffles, push them back in place, the re-tack weld them back in with the mufflers off the bike. Wrap will be around $15 for both baffles, and even someone with a basic FCAW welder can tack them in place.

Not sure the OP can weld it back together, he doesn`t have it

Show a picture of the baffle ... It may be identifiable ... Show the broken piece ... It most likely can be repaired / welded ... I've made more than few sets of inserts/ bafflers over the years

You can see the one baffle has a broken off end which is laying somewhere in a ditch 2.25” in diameter at the end flange and about 8” long over all.
