Default 1993 Ultra Classic

Hello again,

After sorting out the rear lighting issue I decided to take it for a good ride. Before I did, I decided to change up the spark plugs just so I could get a good read on whats going on. Pulling the old plugs ( which where Harley Plugs) they looked pretty good, maybe a bit richer then perfect but not close to fouling plugs and it runs really well so I wasn't going to worry about it. I change to these NGK Iridium plugs I bought at Canadian tire because they where the first one I found that fit my bike. After my 20 min run I pulled the plugs to see what going on. I found the rear plug was dark brown ( Seem rick but I'm not to worried) but the front plug looked brand new. This seemed very strange to me considering both cylinders are feed by the same stock Harley carb. The ignition system in the bike looks very new, one of those S and S Hi things. I did change the exhaust ends after I purchased the bike to these super traps units I found at a swap meet but they have more baffling then the pipes I took off. The air filter is just a K and N filter maybe an inch or so thick with a steel front. Anyways after a little more tinkering on other things, I took it for another 20 min ride. Again back plug the same (no better or worst) but the front plug is getting slightly more color. I third quick 10 min ride and another check, rear plug ( same) front plug just the very end is turning brown now. This evo engine is pretty high mileage so I kind of expected oil burning but doesn't seem to be.

Any help would be greatly apprachated.

plugs are hard to read now a days, all the detergents and additives in gas, but the rear cylinder a little rich is not bad for it, rear is the hotter temp cylinder, so a little rich will help keep it cooler

Yeah, that is kind of how I was feeling about the rear cylinder but the front one worries me because it could be running super lean. It doesn't seem to be popping or bogging at any RPM or load. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar issue and if I should be worried.

my rear cylinder runs richer on my bike, no popping or bogging I wouldn't worry about it, just make sure you dont have a vacuum leak on front cylinder to manifold but I kind of doubt you do
