RE: Electra Glide Sport FLHS 1990 service manual
Joe, you're absolutely right, it is a 90... I think that because I wasn't going nuts with the chrome, that the guy was just being lazy about looking for stuff. I hate apathy. I'll have to track this stuff down myself I suppose. But I'll also look at Bill's, see what's available there. Thanks.

RE: Electra Glide Sport FLHS 1990 service manual
I just thought I would add my 1990 FLHS to the list! Owned it from new, although it is far from original now as you can see. What you cannot see are its stroker flywheels, high comp pistons, bigger carb etc!
I have the factory workshop manual and parts list, don't use anything else.

I'm going to sound like an idiot but can anyone tell me exactly where the oil drain plug is located on a 1990 FLHS. Trying to save alittle cash by doing my own oil change. I have a manual for FLT that came with my bike when I bought used but it is different than FLHS. I called a local shop but they were not very helpful telling me to take the oil filter off and the plug might be there. Any help would be greatly appreciated, trying to get my bike ready to rock and roll. Thanks.

I use the cardboard tube out of kitchen tissue to guide the oil into a bowl - the drain plug sometimes goes down it too! You will need some way of stopping oil going everywhere, or spend the rest of the day cleaning up! A funnel might do, or a plastic drinks bottle with the base cut off. Replace the oil filter, which is under the rear of the transmission.
Refit the drain plug, fill the tank, then run the engine for a few minutes, which will fill the new filter, then top up the tank if necessary. Rebuild and ride!

I bought a service manual from chicago hd but it was back ordered. took about a month to get it. I had a manual on cd from ebay that covered 1984 to 1999 evo touring but the factory manual is head and shoulders above that in quality. I agree about the arrow in the general direction of the oil drain plug though, I moved up from a Sporty, which has a hose you remove to drain oil and I found a hose on the RK but luckily used my head and found the oil plug nearby.

Thanks for the info grbrown. I cant seem to find too much info on my 1990 flhs anywhere. I am thinking of replacing my windshield with a bat fairing, did you have to modify anything? I love the style of my bike except for the large instrument panel, I'm also thinking of changing it if possible.

My batwing is an older glass-fibre one off an early 80s bike. I made up mounting brackets, similar to the original windshield ones. I still have the original headlight binnacle and instruments.

Right on both counts! Hopefully Tom is also going to guide us to Poland in a couple of weeks, if we manage to leap cross the English Channel and make it to the French coast. Then through Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic and back again.
