Default Help identifying cam

Hey there I just traded a old shovel lower end for a complete evo engine. Figured I’d go thru and make sure it’s sound before I decide what I’m gonna put it in to. Pulled out cam and good thing. It’s junk. But curiosity has the best of me. Only markings on iris on lobe closest to case and it’s marked E1. Ive never seen this type of marking and can’t figure out who makes it. Stock maybe? Engine is delkron cases black powder coat with polished aluminum fins. I can see heads are ported but haven’t torn into it past cam chest since I’m still wrapping up my 87 Electra rebuild.

No idea, but I did find a post where a Sifton Sorcerer (140-EV) was said to be called an e-1 in the early days.

Post a picture of the cam taken from the cam bearing end of the cam. Then with a set of vernier calipers measure the width of the base circle and then the total height of the cam lobe and post both the pic and the 2 measurements... I'll see what I can figure out.

I’ll do that when I get home from work tonight around 6pm central time. Thanks. I tried looking online but I’m not that great with computer stuff

LEINWEBER used to do a RE-E-1 cam.intake 44/63, 287, lift .470 exhaust 69/38, 287 lift .470No idea how it was marked. Also an E-7 in case you're reading it wrong.

The Sifton 140-EV
intake 30/42, 252 lift .450 exhaust 55/27, 262 lift .450

Although I could not find that specific cam info, I believe it to be correct. Leinweber did make low lift high duration cams. Which that it's according to your measurements I have you at .471 lift and judging by the pick I would estimate the duration around 246-256 which would be a step below the info I could find on the E2 cam. What are you looking to do to the motor?. There are better cams out there..

I appreciate the help man. Very much. I plan on tearing it down and going for big torque and hp on this engine I’d like to see at least 110-120 cubic inches by the end result. No hurry since I don’t even have a frame for it yet. I just did flywheels up on my 87 bagger due to having to weld a cracked case. It should still be at 96” roughly since i didn’t change much as to the previous build.

Guess I’ll have the heads looked at by my local head porter guy and see were these heads are at. I can see they are ported but that’s all the further I’ve looked at it. After we get heads cc’d and such I guess I gotta figure everything else out. I always go for reliability but this one may end up borderline. I always wanted one bike that would smoke the expensive new bikes that are built.

any ideas as to what to do to get the ponies is welcome. Never built a big in her before
