Question Main wiring harness question

Just out of curiousity, has anybody out there ever had to repair or replace the main wiring harness? I'm talking the one that runs through frame. It seems that is an obsolete part as all I can find is used ones. I'm not have any electrical issues.....yet, just thinking about "what if". Can't find much in custom made harnesses either. Would like to see what others out there would do if that situation ever arose.

Cool

No I haven't, although know a chap who has. There are hi-tech solutions available, based on a magic module that greatly simplifies the wiring. The one he used and I would also, if and when the time comes, is the Motogadget m-unit. If you check Ebay you may find alternative brands of similar devices.

Since I did 12 volt electrical for 23 years, I'd just build a new one. Electrical is easy to me and I like doing it, used to have my own shop long ago.

Don't waste your time worrying about something that hasn't happened, and might never happen. Go for a ride instead.

Sometime near this coming weekend, I'll have my wiring harness completely pulled ( I'll post a pic ). I'm going to clean it up, and repair any loose pin connections. It has been cut/soldered to do bars up front on the two main 12 pin connections and a few on the back by the fender.

That motogadget m-unit looks interesting, especially the one with bluetooth.

That must be quite recent, as I only discovered that version when setting out to provide that link! It's certainly a clever device and well worth considering.

I pulled it this morning. Has all my notes tied on. It's greasy, been jacked with over the last 24 years, so i'll be cleaning and redoing these crimp on's with proper solder and heat shrink.
