My sons bike had one of those things on it when we bought it.
I broke the damn nut off the end of the filter trying to get the filter off during an oil change.
Needless to say it was much harder to get that filter off without the nut on it!!!!!!!

I prefer the filters with the ribbed end and a socket that fits the ribs.

I use a Fram pro FPS 3614 on my 87.....$8.00 really good filter and you can't see it on my bike anyhow.

Big Channel locks to remove, and no reason to charge a Filter that is in the Return side...
No Cheap filters either... due vigilance in quality filter selection certainly weighs Heavily to Wix...
But, Most do what makes them Feel Good...

If you scrunch it down too far and don't lube the seal it's gonna get baked on guaranteed!

Failure to lube the seal is what causes oil filters to stick, not how tight they are put on.

Fortunately, my OEM Toyota filters come with a pre-lubed seal and plastic covering the open face.

Don't you think it would be easier to add a cup of oil to the oil tank instead of trying to get a filter to soak it up, then spin it onto the filter housing, which is even horizontal on some bikes? And it's totally unnecessary on an Evo anyway.

Unless the level is low, I don`t add oil.
