I have a set of Samson Silverbullets. Love the sound. They go for about $369 and on my 86 FLHT they are designed for stock headers.
Two years ago my bud called me from Ace's n Eights at one of their clearance type deal and said they had a pair of turn downs, floor model;
for 50 american dollars. Scarfed em up! Sounds even better now with my S&S E-carb and andrews EV-27 cam. Stage two!!

 

Anybody have experience with the Samson Rolled Thunder mufflers? I see that several of their models are available for pre-95 dressers. How do they compare to the Cycle Shack mufflers? Runnwild, when you say you love the sound of the Silver Bullets, what is it that you like? Are they really loud? Or are they reasonably controlled sounding (i.e. can you still hear the radio)?

 

You don't have to limit yourself to pre-95 mufflers. Change the bar under each saddle bag to the 95-up style, cut the lip off the head pipes and you can run any current slip on you'd like.

 

Check out H-D part # 65255-96 . They are fully legal with thetone being just a little louder and deeper than stock mufflers. I bought a pair from Chicago Harley for $269.00, put them onmy 1987 FLHTC and never looked back. End caps are seperate, of course.You, and your passenger, willbe able to heartheradio loud and clear.

 

Check out a set of wild pigs. I found the pipes to be quite nice, great sound but not so loud to bust you or your buddies ear drums. Price is right also. www.kruzerproducts.com

Great idea. Most likely that flared portion is starting to rust out anyway. Mine wasjust about gone on the left side. And The MoCo is obsoleting more and more parts, so that exhaust pipe mayhave to be purchased from the aftermarket.

Have you got a pic of the newer bar that goes underthe saddle bag?

 

Here's a 95 FLHTCU. I took some pics of the right muffler mount (back, side and top). Hope that helps. (note, in the mufler mount pics, I have the fin end caps off as I getting ready to remove mufflers and clean them up and get them ready to be sold)

BTW,I'm going to be selling my slip ons (with the tips) in a week.They are HD factory ones andarein EXCELENT condition (no scratches, dents or rust). I wanted to go to more a stock sound and picked up a set of factory Road King slip ons. Let me know if you're interested.
