Default FXR question

Recently picked up a 94 FXR Superglide


My question is it only has the speedometer no tach. How hard would it be to wire in a H-D tach from that model era? Maybe relocate the speedo and tach on a dual Mickey Mouse setup? Just curious if it’s a major pain in the @ss and not worth the trouble? Plan on switching bars to a 12” setup so idk if wiring or extending would be a nightmare to do?

It's a simple job to go to the mouse ears setup and there are regular FXR dashes out there to replace the speedo dash.
The tanks are the same and it'll be a simple job to wire the in dash fuel gauge if you want that.

This is the style of dash I'd assume you'd want to use.....I have one that I adapted to my Dyna and also use the same dash on my FXR's.

Yeah I’m interested in doing a mouse ear setup on a Tbar setup like your Dyna.

Any brands specific parts I should be on the hunt for? Also where did you get the wire harness extensions from to relocate everything? Certain brand or company you dealt with?

I can grab a used tach off eBay fairly cheap. Not sure what else I would need but this is what I was able to find so far. Look about right ?

Best thing I did to it other than suspension upgrades.

I swapped around and used all Harley take of parts.

Made those from some old Harley switch harnesses that I had laying around.

I try to use factory stuff as much as possible....There are lots of good aftermarket vendors out there though.

I wound up putting a T-Sport fairing on it which ties it all together and takes away the "stilts" look of the 14" T-Bars.



This bike was a chrome ***** Wide Glide when I bought it....I got it cheap as **** and fixed it.
I hate Wide Glides.

Thanks for the advice! I also picked up a T-Sport fairing couple weeks ago. Hopefully I can piece this together soon.

Just picked this up on EBay pretty cheap...... Has the tach and speedo housing and wires/ connectors all seemed to be in good condition from the pics. Hoping this won’t be too much of a PITA to wire up???

Shouldn't be too bad....Tachs are easy as hell to wire up and the mechanical speedo is even easier, The idiot lights should just wire up the same as your existing ones.
If it was my project, I would lose the P.O.S. headlight plug and wire it all with a weather proof connector.
