Rocker box bolt kind of gnarly....
So with the ups truck bringing parts daily, I figured I better get tearing into the engine last night. Posting from my phone before work, cross fingers the pics work. Without getting too long winded, I followed the fsm to the tee and, with no pressure on the valve springs, removed the bolts that hold the rocker shafts in place. The intake bolt brought aluminum with it and the shoulder has wear. Ran a tap down the head, I think I'm going to be fine after a good cleaning, just wondering if anyone's seen this before. There's also a pic of the bolt holding the exhaust rocker. This is the front head fwiw. Thanks for any input!

That bolt looks like the the rocker box was pushed up against it when tightened down..... notice the spiral pattern from turning on removal. Not uncommon as there is nothing to center/line things up on a stock setup. Rockout inserts will cure that, ensuring the bolt is centered in the hole. You also get the benefit of locking the rocker shaft in place preventing the dreaded top end tapping noise

I agree... Sort of, Looks like the Pushrods were in and holding valve open during disassembly, not assembly... I hope.
