96' Road King Cam upgrade with MM EFI
#81
Just an update. That long start up was very unusual. It usually acts like that on the first start of the year after 4+ months of storage. It starts easy every other time.
The tech who worked on it just had me bring it by and he stepped up the cold idle a bit and all is well now.
A leaky stator plug sidelined my riding along with a damn cold, rainy North Dakota spring for a bit but I'm finally putting some miles on the old girl.
This bike is a totally different animal now with the EV-13 and the PC V. Scootin down the interstate around 78 is a breeze and when I want to pass more quickly, I can do that with a flick of the wrist. Hitting 85 mph with plenty of rotation left on the throttle puts a smile on my face.
The only issue I've had is with the throttle boss since I don't rotate the throttle as much now.
At highway speeds the damn thing is sticking up into the palm of my hand. They should include instructions on how to adjust the throttle boss with these upgrades.

Are your cables too tight? There should be a little slack in order to prevent binding...

Cables are not too tight but I know what you are talking about. Snapped a throttle cable a couple of years back after a grip install.
The placement of the throttle boss is only due to less rotation needed for highway speeds. Damn near 90 degrees. Love the EV-13 and the PC-5. No more decel pop either.
Life is good.

Just updating my old thread. Back in late September after a 30 mile ride a made a quick stop before heading home. The bike started kind of funny and died after running a couple seconds. It started fine after that but only made it a block before it died again. I discovered the bike would only run for a few seconds and then it would just die.
Luckily I was only a few blocks from my dealer that did my PC-V and my cam install. Found out a few days later that the Power Commander failed and the bike would run once they disconnected it. The PC was shipped back and after 3 weeks they finally decided to send a new replacement.
Only question I have is how rare is the failure of these Power Commanders? I only put about 5,000 miles since the install. (rough summer for riding)
